Achieving your Assessment and Quality Assurance Units (TAQA)

Second Edition

January 2014 | 288 pages | Learning Matters
This edition of the focused and comprehensive text written for TAQA learners and all trainee assessors and quality assurers is another essential support text from bestselling author Ann Gravells. The content covers all assessor and quality assurance units and is easy-to-read and clearly structured. This edition has been enhanced with new chapters; and has activities and examples to help you link theory with practice.
It includes:
*cross references to the qualification units and the national occupational standards;
*two new chapters covering the external quality assurance role;
*completed examples of templates and forms for assessors, internal and external quality assurers;
*ideas for evidence that can be used towards achievement of each unit;
*new bullet lists, tables and checklists.

TAQA, and other assessor and quality assurer trainees will find this text both an invaluable resource for their course and useful handbook to take into practice. Please note: This book has since been updated into two books: Principles and Practices of Assessment, and Principles and Practices of Quality Assurance.

Index

A great book which is easy to access for all levels of students. We like the links to the national standards for those working towards their Assessor Award. It is good that they can go on to gain greater insight into the whole process of assessing and quality assurance even if they don't technically need this at this stage. For those who do not wish to read further into the book there is plenty of material to help them to understand and start to implement good assessment practice. One small criticism is that whilst the book acknowledges that not all assessing is linked to qualifications, it is heavily biased this way - in common with most texts. It would be nice in its next revision to have more emphasis on assessment as an aspect of performance management rather than the pursuit of qualifications.

This was shared amongst a few who had just finished their Award submissions and all wished they had had it to start with. Easy reference, well written to make an engaging but informed read.
Full of really practical help and examples.
A good book for this Award for any level of reader.

This is an extremely helpful book that covers all of the qualifications for assessment and internal quality assurance. Students find this helpful in completing the theory units.

Lots of really good examples in the book to reinforce learning. I particularly like the Theory focus at the end of each chapter which includes references and sources for further information.

As always the TAQA books from A.Gravells, support students very well throughout their studies.
An essential book for the course, not aimed at one awarding body.

A must have for those hoping to achieve assessor or quality assurance qualifications. This is also an excellent reference for all those who work in assessment to refresh their knowledge and gain valuable advice on the assessment process.
