I am a Reader (Associate Professor) in Educational Values and Pedagogy, having previously been a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in the School of Education where I currently lead the Learning, Leadership and Policy (LLP) academic team and am a member of the senior management team. Recently funded projects include: Principal Investigator on AHRC/ESRC projects looking at school ethos, leadership and learning in English and the Humanities (£60k) and moral education and character education in new academies (£50k); lead consultant on two evaluations of English in vocational diplomas (£30k) and lead investigator on a project working with English and history teachers on the teaching of texts from other times (£10k). I also provide INSET on pedagogy for teachers across the curriculum, lead and teach on the PGCE in Secondary English. Before doing my ESRC funded Ph.D at Southampton University I taught and led learning for over ten years in high schools.
