Designing and Conducting Mixed Methods Research

Third Edition

August 2017 | 520 pages | SAGE Publications, Inc

Combining the latest thinking in the field with practical, step-by-step guidance, the Third Edition of John W. Creswell and Vicki L. Plano Clark’s Designing and Conducting Mixed Methods Research now includes seven mixed methods designs with accompanying journal articles illustrating each design. The authors walk readers through the entire research process and present updated examples from published mixed methods studies drawn from multiple disciplines. In addition, this new edition includes information about the dynamic and evolving nature of the field of mixed methods research, four additional methodological approaches, and coverage of new directions in mixed methods.

Great overview of mixed methods research. I am using it to facilitate my course in mixed methods in Spring 2021.

This book is a great resources, but requires a moderate level of comfort with both quantitative and qualitative methods upon reading. For readers that have at least an introductory level of these prerequisites, this book is a valuable tool for constructing, implementing, and analysing high-quality mixed methods research. As a researcher, I will use this book to guide myself in best practices as I develop my mixed methodology skills, but I am not confident using this in an introductory course where students may not have concrete knowledge of qual. and quan. basics. If able to offer a course holding prerequisites for both methodologies, I would use this book in a heartbeat and recommend it to others in the same situation.
