SAGE to publish the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy in association with the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association
SAGE Publishing has today announced that it is to begin publishing the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy (HKJOT), the official publication of the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association (HKOTA). The first issue will publish with SAGE in June 2018.
Samuel Y.C. Chan, Chairperson, HKOTA commented:
“When looking for a publishing partner we wanted to find someone who was as focused on the content as they were on author care and management. SAGE for us was the epitome of this. With their global publishing outreach and adaptive nature to the publishing field and its challenges, we believe that SAGE is perfectly positioned to build and develop the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy for the modern researcher.”
Publishing open access with SAGE, the journal provides a platform to promote the development of theory and practice in occupational therapy (OT). Widening the scholarly discussion on OT, the journal aims to facilitate documentation and communication among educators, researchers and practitioners. Advancing availability, use, support and excellence of OT on behalf of the Association, the journal promotes better understanding of OT within both the research community and the wider public.
Kenneth Fong, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, remarked:
“The Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy offers an important stage for educators, researchers and practitioners who are interested in Occupational Therapy (OT) to access the latest research and developments regarding the field. Under SAGE’s publishing direction we look forward to engaging and appealing to a wider research base, thus enhancing the global applicability and resonance of the content.”
“The research content published in the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy plays a critical role in building greater knowledge and understanding of occupational therapy for the many communities it serves - including researchers, educators, registered occupational therapists and students - and also for the public,” commented Tessa Picknett, Executive Director, STM Journals. “We’re delighted to be working with the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association to further develop its global readership and impact.”
