It will also serve as a reference point for more experienced readers looking to refresh their understanding of other approaches.
'A brave, well wrought and extremely valuable précis of 10 of the major talking therapies, this book promises to be the trainee's key how-to text in a field that can often be bewildering. The authors are to be congratulated!' -
Colin Feltham, Emeritus Professor of Critical Counselling Studies, Sheffield Hallam University
'A little gem of a book, that somehow seems to be bigger on the inside than the outside by doing what it says on the tin...Without question I recommend this book for trainee and experienced therapists' -
Michael Townend PhD, University of Derby
Excellent text that provides a fairly indepth exploration of physchological therapies, and their use in modern multi disciplinary mental health practice.
A very useful read for trainee therapists.
A solid readable text breaking down key features of some key approaches to therapy. Chapter activities and worksheets are engaging and provide useful pedagogical tools for lecturers as well as being accessible to learners studying at level 3 and Foundation Degree levels.
A student who reviewed this for us was impressed by the accessibility and ease of use of htis text.
essential read for pre registration nurses on the mental health programme requiring basic knowledge of the key therapeutic approaches
A useful text which is useful to dip in and out of as required for reference purposes. The text has a practical focus and explores various therapeutic methods. Great for students looking for an overview.
Too brief to cover much detail, of course, this book is helpful partly in that it puts different modalities alongside one another. Given the divisions between therapists of one flavour or another, this is a useful step, although one is always left wishing a greater range of modalities could have been covered (inevitably).
This book is essential reading for established practitioners who are looking at introducing new ways of working with their clientelle or for new practitioners as a guide to established therapeutic approaches
an excellent guide book of practical application of various therapeutic approaches offering challenging opportunities for training
