Jason Locasale Duke University, USA

Dr. Locasale’s lab is part of the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke University. He has a longstanding interest in understanding the structure and function of metabolic networks in health and pathology. His research focuses on an integrated understanding of metabolism in health and disease, more specifically, understanding the role of altered metabolism in cancer, emphasizing its targetable liabilities and downstream effects on cellular physiology, notably its influence on the chromatin state. At the core of this effort lies the utilization of computational modeling and high-throughput technologies, such as mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. Dr. Locasale defines his lab’s systems biology approach through combining these tools with an integration of genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology with the ultimate goal of potentially fundamentally alter our understanding of disease biology and lead to innovative therapies.
