George W. Albee University of Vermont, USA

George Albee, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at the University of Vermontand Courtesy Professor at the Florida Mental Health Institute and theUniversity of South Florida. He served on both the Eisenhower and Carter Presidential Commissions on Mental Health and is a past President of the American Psychological Association, APA's Division of Clinical Psychology, and the American Association for Applied and Preventive Psychology. He established the Vermont Conference on the Primary Prevention of Psychopathology which held 17 conferences bringing together researchers, policy makers and implementers of primary prevention programs throughout the world. He has written dozens of books and hundreds of articles on the merits of prevention. Albee has received many awards and honors including the American Psychological Society’s Distinguished Professional Award, the American Psychological Foundation’s Gold Medal for Life Contribution by a Psychologist in the Public Interest, and a presidential citation from the American Psychological Association.
