A text that intrdouces a range of key issues discussed throughout the degree. A good Introductory text.
This is a sound introductory textbook and can be used by nursing students although it would have to be supplemented by other texts. I wonder why there was no sociology chapter? Chpt 1 was useful, containing lots of easy tips for the learner - would like to have seen more on essay writing. Chpt 2 useful but need more signposting for nurses. Chpt 3 clear introduction to research I would add Alan Brymans research text to the reading list - an easy read. Chpt 4 introduced relevant topics and I liked the section on health inequalities, could the stigma section be developed? Chpt 7 very engaging and clear and it did cover a range of relevant health and social care topics. Chpt 8 useful introduction to psychology and it attempts to link some concepts to practice. (Walker et al, 2004 in reading list has been updated).
A very clear easy to read text that gives the foundation students a good base understanding of the topic going forward
A useful and informative text both at HNC level and in preparation for this level of study. Learning styles will be a useful section early in learners' studies and the section on learning through placement will be recommended in particular.
This is very good introductory book for students new to health and social care, it is a comprehensive text, covering the key areas in Health and Social care and is easy to read for our students.
This book provides a basic information into key issues in health and social care. Some of my students have found it invaluable others have preferred a different text.
