James Crawford Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

Dr. James Crawford is the Interim Criminal Justice Department Chair at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. He received his Ph.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University and M.A. degree from American Public University. He teaches courses on Criminology, Victimology, Constitutional Law, Criminal, Law, Corrections, Ethics and Public Relations, Juvenile Justice, Investigative Principles, Criminalistics, and Community Policing. Dr. Crawford serves as an Executive Counselor for the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Queer Criminology. His research interests include the intersectionality of LGBTQ+ identities and the criminal justice system, with an emphasis on incarceration, institutional safety, and carceral policy reform.
