The mission of the Journal of Education is to disseminate knowledge that informs teaching and learning in PK-12 and higher education. We hope to expedite the integration of research, theory, and practice in education. The Journal prioritizes publication of manuscripts related to PreK-12 education and manuscripts that focus on equity, diversity, inclusion, and access. Researchers, scholars, educators, and advanced doctoral students are invited to submit manuscripts to the Journal of Education. Consistent with the Journal's mission, every manuscript accepted for review must include a discussion of implications for teaching and learning practice, teacher preparation, and/or education policy.

Guidelines for Authors
The Journal of Education is published three times during the calendar year: winter, spring, and fall.
Mission
The mission of the Journal of Education is to disseminate knowledge in the service of practice and to expedite the integration of research, theory, and practice in education. Researchers, scholars, teachers, administrators, specialists, and advanced doctoral students are invited to submit manuscripts that inform the education of PK–12 learners or pre-service and in-service teachers and other professionals in the field, including higher education and applied human development professionals. Consistent with the Journal’s mission, every manuscript accepted for review must include a discussion of implications for practice in the broader field of education (i.e., beyond the particular educational setting in which the work was conducted).
Areas of focus
We ask authors to keep in mind the Journal’s three principal areas of focus when submitting potential reviews. They are:
· Educational Studies: Works that focus on teaching and learning, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, and educational policy.
· Applied Human Development in the Context of Schooling: Works that focus on counseling, prevention studies, performance psychology, program development and evaluation.
· Literacy and Language Education: Works that cover mainstream learners, English language learners or those with particular need; learner identity, social justice in literacy, language teaching and learning, and deaf studies.
Types of Manuscripts
Four types of manuscripts will be considered: reports of original research, explications of theory, reflections on education, and book reviews.
Reports of Original Research should include a clear statement of purpose, a review of the relevant literature, a description of the methods, and a discussion of the findings and the implications for practice in the broader field of education.
Explications of Theory should include a clear explanation of a theoretical perspective that informs practice, a description of the historical context, a justification based on the literature, and a discussion of implications for practice in the broader field of education. Comprehensive literature reviews are welcome.
Reflections by experienced researchers, theorists, and teachers (and their students) should provide informed analysis and insights regarding effective practice. Experienced scholars may offer an historic analysis of a significant topic in the educative process, the effects on the field, and implications for practice in the broader field of education.
Book Reviews may be of scholarly work, or of works that are intended to be of use to the practitioner. The Journal will maintain its interest in publishing reviews of books that are of interest to young readers (PreK-12) and the practitioners who serve them. We ask that all reviews be between 500 and 1500 words in length.
Manuscript Submission
Submit your manuscript to the Journal of Education here: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bujoe
The manuscript should represent original work, not published previously in print or electronic form. The text should be approximately 25 pages, double spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman typeface, and introduced with a 100-word abstract. There should be a one-inch margin on all sides of an 8 ½ x 11-inch page. The manuscript should conform to the style specifications of the American Psychological Association as described in the Concise Rules of APA Style, Sixth Edition, published by the Association in 2009. A reasonable number of clear tables and/or figures may be included at the end of the text.
Consistent with the policy of blind review, the author(s)’ name(s), role(s), and institutional affiliation(s) should be listed only on a cover page that will be removed before the manuscript is sent to the reviewers. That cover page should include the name of the corresponding author, e-mail and postal addresses, and telephone number. References to the author(s)’ previous work should be listed as Author(s) in the citations and references. Acknowledgment of cooperating scholars or professionals and funding sources should be added to the end of the manuscript.
Manuscript Review and Selection
The corresponding author will receive a notice of receipt of the manuscript within two weeks and if accepted for review, they will receive the reviewers’ decision within three months. Four types of decisions are made: Accept as submitted, Accept with revisions, Revise and resubmit, or Not accepted. All manuscripts will be judged on adherence to the Guidelines for Authors, the quality and significance of the content, the inclusion of a valid discussion of implications for practice in the broader field of education, and the clarity and cohesion of the text.
Reports of Original Research will be judged, as well, on the significance of the inquiry, the rigor of the methods, and the validity of the findings and implications.
Explications of Theory will be judged, as well, on the significance of the theory, the clarity of the explication, the quality of the justification, and the validity of the implications.
Reflections will be judged, as well, on the quality of the critical analysis and reflection, and the validity of the implications.
Book Reviews will be judged, as well, on the significance and relevance of the work selected, and the quality of the critical analysis and reflection.
Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the author(s) will be expected to agree to assign the rights to the copyright to the Journal of Education, with the authors retaining broad duplication and distribution rights for teaching and related educational uses.
