This Reader is a collection of 23 articles on child abuse and neglect. It makes an ideal complement to the APSAC Handbook on Child Maltreatment, Third Edition.

The book is divided into five parts, including the following:

- child protection in the United States

- child neglect

- physical abuse

- child sexual abuse

- investigation and substantiation of neglect and abuse.

All articles selected are from the SAGE leading journals Child Maltreatment and the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. Each article contains a one-page summary of key points written by John E B Myers as well as discussion questions at the end of each chapter.
