Interprofessional Social Work
Effective Collaborative Approaches

Second Edition

October 2012 | 208 pages | Learning Matters
All Social Work students are required to undertake specific learning and assessment in partnership working and information sharing across professional disciplines and agencies. Increasingly, social workers are also finding that they need to deal with a wide range of other professions as part of their daily work. It is essential therefore that social workers can work effectively and collaboratively with these professions while retaining their own values and identity. This updated second edition will prepare social work students to work with a wide variety of professions including youth workers, the police, teachers and educators, the legal profession and health professionals.

A good examination of the opportunities and challenges. This provides a coherent approach to the subject and assists learners to develop their own thinking and make links to contemporary practice.

Mr Mike Edwards

This is a relevant title which maintains practical approaches to collaborative practice in social work. It is important because it points out the need for multidisiplinary awareness and understanding, especially as an introductory element to any health and social care student.

This book gives a good overview of the current literature and thoughts about collaborative approaches. Especially chapter 5 is for my context (Master SEN) interesting. The book offers rich back ground information. The drawback for us is its focus on - just - the UK context.

This book provides a very good overview of multi-agency working and applies it to different settings. I found the chapter on the 'justice context' useful.

I found this book particularly well structured for the BA Social Work students, and insightful in supporting lecture preparation, I have included this text on the recommended reading list for the Interprofessional Practice course.
