Julia Carter University of the West of England, UK

Julia Carter is a senior lecturer in Sociology at Canterbury Christ Church University. Her research interests include marriage and relationships, families and personal life, and gender and sexuality. She is particularly interested in intimate relationships and the roles these play in an ever-changing social context. Previous publications have focused on marriage and narratives of love, sexuality, and commitment and living apart together relationships, policy, and social change. Her wider interests include gender and popular culture, and more recently, she has completed research and published work on the topic of weddings: practices, experiences, and (gendered) norms.
