- degree course in Education or Education Studies with or without QTS
- degree courses in Early Years or Early Childhood Studies;
- foundation degrees in Education or any education-related subject discipline
Students working in the Education sector will find the book provides useful guidance in planning and conducting projects.
My course is a work focused learning online degree with students from a wide range of work contexts. Only a proportion of our students are working in school based education so I could not make this an essential book for the course. I have added it to our course reading list, it will be recommended for year 1 school based students and it is already on our Library list. The book is a good introductory level resource containing a well structured range of concise information some good worked examples that give a more practical insight into educational research and some useful further reading.
This text will be extremely useful for our year 2 Research Methods module in which students plan their project ideas for their final year dissertation. Each chapter takes them through the simple steps they need to consider for development of their initial project ideas through to writing it up and it is written and presented in a student friendly and easily understandable way. The specific focus towards education based projects rather than being a generic research methods/project type of text is very helpful for our Education programme.
This book is written in a way that is easy to understand and has a logical flow. I like the practical tasks and summary of key points - ideal for class discussions.
A minor point - the font appears pale in comparison to other LM books and makes reading a little harder. However, the content is pitched well for our students.
Helpful to a point...covers main research skills required but focus is schools not HE.
A good overview for students of hoiw to start research. This text is particularly useful for Foundation Degree students who have not done reserach yet but starting to as part of their course work.
The Learninng Outcomes and Chapter Summary provide a useful guide. Text is clear and explicit. A good foundation guide for the new research-student.
Really useful, with some pertinent research examples.
Excellent book for undergraduate students. Easy to read and suitable for students undertaking their first research project.
This book provides straight forward advice to first time researchers on the undergraduate degree. It is clearly organised and allows students to access relevant information and useful advice as they develop their research projects.
