Hans de Wit is Professor (lector) of Internationalisation of Higher Education at the School of Economics and Management of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences, and as of 2012 also a professor of Internationalisation of Higher Education and Academic Director at the International Education Research Centre (IERC) of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Milan. Since 2010, he is a visiting professor at the CAPRI, the Centre for Academic Practice and Research in Internationalisation of Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. In 2005-2006 He was a New Century Scholar of the Fulbright Program Higher Education in the 21st Century, and in 1995 and 2006 a visiting scholar in the USA and in 2002 in Australia.Hans de Wit is the Co-Editor of the Journal of Studies in International Education (Association for Studies in International Education/SAGE publishers). He has (co)written several other books and articles on international education and is actively involved in assessment and consultancy in international education, for organizations like the European Commission, UNESCO, World Bank, IMHE/OECD, and ESMU. His latest books are Hans de Wit (2011), Trends, Issues and Challenges in Internationalisation of Higher Education, CAREM HvA, and Hans de Wit (2009). (Ed.), Measuring Success in Internationalisation of Higher Education, EAIE Occasional Paper, Amsterdam. He is also co-editor of Quality and Internationalisation of Higher Education with Jane Knight, University of Toronto, OECD, 1999.
Hans de Wit has been Director of the Office of Foreign Relations, Vice-President for International Affairs and Senior Advisor International at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, in the period 1986-2005, and director of international relations at Tilburg University in 1981-1985. He is also a founding member and past president of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). Currently he is, among other positions, Member of the Board of Trustees of World Education Services (New York), Member of the ESL TOEFL Board (as of 2011), and Member of the Consell Assessor de l’Institut Internacional de Postgrau de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
