SAGE launches Health Psychology Open July 2014

September 9, 2014

Los Angeles, CA - Leading independent and academic publisher SAGE, has announced the launch of Health Psychology Open an international, open access (OA), peer-reviewed, online-only journal  addressing issues in health and social sciences. The journal will be accepting submissions from 30 April 2014 with the first issue publishing at the end of June 2014.

Health Psychology Open aims to support and help shape research in health psychology from around the world. Its mission is to provide a platform for traditional empirical analyses as well as more qualitative and/or critically oriented approaches to health psychology across all areas of the topic: clinical, public health, community, and critical health psychology.  Acting as a forum for the dissemination and exchange of information amongst health psychology researchers and professionals across the globe, it also aims to address the social contexts in which psychological and health processes are embedded.

Karen Phillips, Editorial Director, SAGE commented ahead of the launch: “Researchers are looking for new open access outlets for their research and SAGE is committed to developing models and platforms to best suit these needs. The launch of this OA journal not only demonstrates SAGE’s commitment to embracing new models and research communication mechanisms, but also highlights our continued commitment to supporting growing discipline fields, with the goal of disseminating vital research to the broadest community. We look forward to working with the highly distinguished editorial board, both to launch and develop this journal further.”

Editor, David F Marks remarked: “Health Psychology Open will provide an active forum for discussion on issues around the social contexts in which psychological and health processes are embedded. Well regarded amongst medical practitioners, we look forward to developing the scope and reach of this journal with SAGE, a publisher whom not only has a strong understanding of, and portfolio of journals within, the medical sector, but one whom is closely aligned with the goals of the editorial board in providing high quality research for the international medical community.”
