Good text for level 4 learners new to Child development
The current edition continues to inform and inspire the study of this subject. This is done through the accessible style that Marion uses to enable readers to consider theory and practice. With contemporary case studies and reflections and discussion points to support the links between policy and practice. Overall it is a comprehensive text for students and researchers of early childhood education and care.
This is a clearly written book with an important updated focus on two year olds, which will be invaluable for PGCE and Childhood Studies students. It guides students to make links between their understanding of theory and the way they build relationships with the children they work with.
An informative and extremely accessible text that makes up to date and key links with the EYFS statutory framework. Essential reading for all those engaged in the learning, development and wellbeing of children. I particularly liked the chapter that support understanding about children’s spiritual growth, it is grounded in a clear understanding of theory as well as its practical application for the reader. This text also provided insightful links into the trends in Education, Leaving you with a real sense of questioning! - Brilliant
The first editions of this book were interesting reading and this edition has been enhanced with photographs. It is written in such an easy to read format and contains so many key points of interest. After reading it you are left with no doubt that it is such an important aspect of a child's development that is still not recognised enough all of the time.
This has been an important book that we have rated highly on our course for a number of years. It's great that it has been updated and has been enhanced even further. It balances the background theory and ideas with practice, which is why it appeals to both lecturers and students, along with being a sensitive and supportive text.
