Curtis Newbold The University of Utah

Curtis Newbold, PhD, is a clinical associate professor of strategic communication in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah. He is an award-winning corporate consultant with a research and practitioner background in strategic communication and has published in a range of academic journals and book chapters emphasizing communication and information design, self-directed learning, competency-based education, business communication, and public relations. He has delivered over 200 live trainings, webinars, and workshops for diverse multinational companies and government organizations including New York City Department of Health; Utah State Legislature Auditor General; Indeed.com; Discover Financial Services; O'Reilly Media; Havas Health Plus; Mountain America Credit Union; and CollegeBoard.  He has developed and taught over 40 different communication courses at universities in the U.S., China, and the Utah Asia Campus in South Korea. He has led graduate student strategic communication projects for non-profit organizations in Peru, South Africa, Cambodia, Hungary, Morocco, and Iceland. He has a PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID) from Clemson University and BS and MA degrees in English and Professional Communication from Utah State University.
