Elmo Mannarino Perugia, Italy

Elmo Mannarino was born on September 12th 1946 in Paola, Italy. He took the speciality degree in Gerontology and Geriatrics (1973) and Cardiology (1977). He is Head of the Internal Medicine, Angiology and Atherosclerosis Unit at the University of Perugia. He has been Head of the Post-graduate School of Cardiology and since 2004 he is Head of the Post-graduate School of Internal Medicine, University of Perugia. He is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Perugia. He is fellow of several Scientific Societies, including the European Atherosclerosis Society. He is President-Elect of the Italian Society of Atherosclerosis. He is author of over 450 original articles, including more than 100 published in international journals with impact factor. Research activity of Prof. Mannarino is addressed to the study of the pathophysiology, clinics and

therapeutics of cardiovascular disease, in particular to atherosclerosis, dyslipidemia, peripheral arterial disease, hypertension, and ischemic heart disease.
