Sally Wai-chi Chan University of Newcastle, Australia

Sally Wai-chi Chan is the dean of nursing, head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the deputy director of the Research Centre for Brain and Mental Health, Faculty of Health and Medicine at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her career influences the tripartite mission of research, education, and practice, which aims to improve health care practice outcomes, implementing teaching innovations and mentoring new generations of health care professionals. Supported by more than 80 funded studies, more than 300 publications in international health care journals, and international presentations, she has developed and sustained international inter-institutional partnerships. She has served on the editorial and advisory board of many renowned journals. She has been appointed by the World Health Organization to the Primary Care Consultation group for Revision of International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision Mental and Behavioral Disorder. In 2013, she was awarded the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame by the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing and fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Her extensive list of accolades also includes Chinese University of Hong Kong Teacher of the Year awards in 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and the Master Teacher in 2007 by the institute’s Faculty of Medicine.
