Yan Yan Boston University, USA

Yan Yan is a second-year PhD student in Quantitative Psychology program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received a master’s degree in Assessment, Testing, and Measurement in Education from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from Hainan Normal University in Haikou, China. She is working with Dr. Susan Embretson in the Cognitive Measurement Lab, and she is interested in theoretical research, methodological development, and novel applications in educational measurement. She had emphasized training in item response theory, cognitive assessment, and multidimensional scaling, and graduate training in applied statistics and modeling. She has contributed to projects in mathematics achievement including exploration and testing of international differences in math proficiency, automatic item generation with mathematics test items, and methods of vertically scaling math tests. Her current research focuses on vertical equating with longitudinal data using unidimensional and multidimensional item response theory models.
