Leading for Health and Wellbeing
- Vicki Taylor - The Open University
'It is clearly written, doesn’t assume too much previous knowledge, includes numerous boxes with reflective tutorial and self-learning exercises, and systematically builds quite a sophisticated understanding of the subject. I don’t read many textbooks these days, and this one impressed me with the logic of its structure and presentation. The book sets out to be easily understood and evidence based where possible.'
An excellent book for practitioners moving into a managerial role or managers re-visiting their skills. The activities are well thought through and explanations are clear and comprehensible. Excellent mapping with Public Health competencies.
A useful book to introduce and revisit leadership with students in health care. Particularly helpful at a time when Healthcare leadership is the focus of many policies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
essential reading for those involved in public health management or studying. innovative insight into the management of change within health promotion
Very useful book for all public health students and healthcare practitioners
A helpful text which seeks to engage and ground the reader in leadership within the over-arching context of healthand wellbeing. Links to the Public Health Skills and Careers Framework, add value in linking theoretical approaches to an applied understanding of the topic area.
This will be a valuable book for those developing leadership skills in public health, community development and social care in the community. It is attractively presented and well-written. I particularly liked the span from social processes to organisational issues, from strategic partnerships to local projects.
The connection the book makes between leadership and the core competencies is very well done and appropriate for undergraduate students.
This book clearly demonstrates the leadership skills required to meet the public health leadership competences and will be a useful addtiion to the reading list for several of the core public health modules.
Very useful synthesis of material from a range of sources
