The Australasian Marketing Journal (AMJ) is the official journal of the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC). It is an academic, international peer-reviewed Journal for the dissemination of marketing research. It covers a variety of marketing issues of theoretical and practical relevance, with high readership across all stakeholders (e.g., researchers at different career stage and with differing backgrounds; marketing practitioners; students and policy makers). All content of the Journal is subject to a double-blind review process, which we openly share and swiftly upkeep to support all authors. The Journal is indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index, Scopus and PsycINFO.

The Journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Paul Harrigan and Lara Stocchi, new editors-in-chief of AMJ from 2026, introduce themselves and outline their plans for the journal in their leadership introduction video below:

The Australasian Marketing Journal (AMJ) publishes work that clearly contributes to the broader marketing field. Such contributions must be underpinned by theory, with potential to impact practice. The work that the AMJ publishes will further knowledge on contemporary marketing issues, based on rigour in the review of literature, conceptualisation, and methodology (if empirical). For our authors, we will provide timely and constructive feedback from our review and editorial teams. We aim for first decisions, after double-blind review, within 60 days.

EDITORIAL STRATEGY

The journal is based on five new strategic pillars, and strives to be:

  1. REPUTABLE: Internationally appreciated, and an outlet of choice for marketing academics from different areas of the world.
  2. OPEN: A Journal that is transparent on the research steps that underpin the publication process, from manuscript preparation and submission (e.g., authors’ full disclosure of research design decisions and sharing of data), to the steps of the peer review process (e.g., average time from submission to first decision, average review length, etc.).
  3. INCLUSIVE: Highly valued and recognised within the ANZMAC Community, embodying our values and representing us all.
  4. INQUISITIVE: A Journal that reinvigorates important scholarly debates and promotes marketing’s standing as a scientific discipline with real-world impact.
  5. FORWARD LOOKING: A Journal that matches what academic publishing will look like in the future, rather than now (i.e., it anticipates changes, such as the impact of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence).
