Tobacco Use Insights is an open access, peer reviewed international journal that focuses on all aspects of the health impacts of tobacco use and smoking cessation, including the short and long term effects of tobacco and marijuana use, tobacco-related cancer, other chronic disorders. Open access article processing charge (APC) information

Publication in the journal is subject to payment of an article processing charge (APC). The APC serves to support the journal and ensures that articles are freely accessible online in perpetuity under a Creative Commons license.

The APC for this journal is currently $3,000 USD.

The article processing charge (APC) is payable when a manuscript is accepted after peer review, before it is published. The APC is subject to taxes where applicable. Please see further details here.

Tobacco Use Insights is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal which covers all aspects of tobacco and nicotine use from policy research to physical and mental health and social and economic impact.

The Editors are interested in submissions on the short and long-term health, social and economic effects of tobacco (including smokeless and spitless products) and poly substance use, including cannabis use and emerging nicotine products (such as e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn).
The journal also welcomes submissions on new policy initiatives, such as Tobacco Endgame measures, Smoke-Free Generation and Denicotinization, including policy modelling studies, and commercial determinants of health.

    Tobacco Use Insights recommends that authors follow the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals formulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

    Tobacco Use Insights is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

    Manuscript Submission

    Please read the Full Submissions Guidelines (PDF) before submitting your manuscript.

    Please note that manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines may be returned. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of Tobacco Use Insights will be reviewed.

    Tobacco Use Insights publishes case reports, commentaries, concise reviews, debates, editorials, expert reviews, letters to the editor, meeting reports, methodologies, original research, perspectives, reviews, short commentaries, short reports, and short reviews.

    Article Processing Charge

    If, after peer review, your manuscript is accepted for publication, a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC)* is payable. This APC covers the cost of publication and ensures that your article will be freely available online in perpetuity under a Creative Commons license.

    The APC is $1,848 USD and will be payable upon acceptance.

    Copyright

    Tobacco Use Insights publishes manuscripts under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial license (CC BY NC), which allows others to re-use the work without permission as long as the work is properly referenced and the use is non-commercial.

    Alternative license arrangements are available, for example, to meet particular funder mandates, made at the author's request.

    *The article processing charge (APC) is payable upon acceptance after peer review and is subject to value added tax (VAT) where applicable. If the paying author/institution is based in the European Union, to comply with European law, VAT must be added to the APC. Providing a VAT registration number will allow an institution to avoid paying this tax, except for UK institutions. Payments can be made in GBP or USD.
