New to this edition are the following:

The authors take an applied approach and every chapter contains a variety of practical examples from real research. Readers are encouraged to reflect on their own practice at every step, meaning that the book remains extremely relevant throughout. It will be invaluable for all students who are doing a dissertation or taking a research methods module in education, the social sciences, business and health.
This textbook provides a thorough and helpful approach to the thorny problem of focusing down on the research questions. It provides support for students through the early process of determining methodology and methods.
An easily accessible book for a complicated subject matter.
This book sets out methodology in a clear manner guiding the reader through methodology frameworks. It is ideal for students at all levels as it is well written in an accessible manner.
An excellent book ideal for students undertaking research projects
very useful and accesible book for students and I will be adding it to the reading list
Excellent book for the student’s who are in the beginning of their research journey. Clough and Nutbrown manage to present and demonstrate the basic research principles well. One of the core books on my list for the forthcoming term.
This is clear and comprehensive. It relates research methodology closely to current educational issues.
Chapter 5 on Reading: Purpose and Positionality is especially useful – this is an issue which is often difficult for researchers and where guidance is in short supply.
I would have liked more encouragement to think and discuss collaboratively with colleagues in the activities.
excellent layout and structure
I would recommend this to my students who are enthusiastic about developing their research skills further. it is not a research textbook as such, but rather gives the underlying foundation of what the researcher is trying to achieve. I am finding it invaluable in my own research, and indeed my supervisor recommended it to me.
Straightforward and very clear information for the whole methodology process. Students found this books very easy to navigate and very useful for their research
