Another really useful book from Francis and Gould for anyone new to teaching in adult and further education. It is mapped directly to the assessment requirements for the new award in education and training, with a very clear structure and plenty of guidance and suggestions throughout. We have been using the series of textbooks produced by these authors for at least ten years now as they continually come out top in student preference evaluations.

For their previous book I advanced the suggestion that “if you want to pass your PTLLS, buy this book” – I would repeat that sentiment for this new title.

Andrew Duff
Programme Leader for Teacher Education and Professional Development, Kingston College

'In the ever-changing climate within which teachers find themselves, Francis and Gould have continued to remain abreast of the times with relevant and up-to-date best practice. I highly recommend this book for those new to teaching and those who want a refresher.'

Anne Samson
Teacher Trainer

'Francis and Gould have produced a must read for anyone studying for an introductory teaching qualification. The book is practical in its approach, yet grounded in theory, and full of common sense guidance for practitioners teaching in a variety of further and higher education settings. An easy and engaging read, it offers a step-by-step guide through the planning, teaching and assessment journey. It is a welcome addition to the trainee teachers’ toolbox, and will help the reader ensure that their teaching contributes to high quality learning.'

David Parry
Deputy Director of Education, Royal College of Physicians

This is a comprehensive text book that supports Award in Education. It has great ideas for resources, strategies and approaches that are not only good for Award students but those who progress to further teacher training courses.

A clear and accessible book that covers all major topics of the course.
It has a very clear layout and style. It has a very practical approach to teaching which should be very useful to those new to the profession.

This book is an easy read due to it being well laid out and having lots of good teaching points. It covers all the learning points required for the new level 3 Award in Teaching and Training and is a must read for anyone teaching in the FE and skills sector and Adult learning.

A difficult choice between this and Ann Gravels so we bought a selection of each and let students take the one that they considered best met their reading and study styles. Equally positive and complimentary feedback on both books, with AG book better answering the assessment tasks!
But a great read and useful reference.
